ARPSC Meeting Minutes Monday June 16, 2014

ARPSC Meeting 6-16-14


Background Checks – Get the paperwork in if you haven't in the last year (found HERE).  These can be dropped off at Fire Station 8 to Barb Hamilton, Rhonda Oberlin, or get it to Jim Hannahs. 


ATV Kits – The kits are all set and groomed for Common Ground.


Common Ground  – July 8 through 13 – Tuesday is expected to be the biggest crowd (biggest pre-sale).  There was talk about looking into using the new cameras at common ground with IP and directional antennas, possibly with mesh network (depending on the arrival of mounting devices).


Field Day – June 28 thru 29 – News Release was sent out to weekly news places in the area, with TV stations and daily publications will be set out.  Field Day went off successfully with a visit from WLNS.


Volunteer Picnic – August 17 – The timing is still being worked out, but it will be held behind Fire Station #8.  The idea is for attendees to bring a dish to pass, with hot-dogs and burgers being supplied.


J Pole Class: Carl and Bob will hold a class on how to build a J Pole antenna at Lansing Fire Station 4 Miller Between Penn and Aurelius.  Materials for $20 –


August 4 – Net Control and Training are needed for this ARPSC Training Net.  Contact Don McLain (KB8RAD) if you are interested.



Skywarn – Current plans for Tornado Siren activation are for Skywarn Net Control to activate sirens if the 911 center cannot.


Upcoming Service Events:


August 2 – Komen Mid-Michigan Ride for the Cure.  Location: Mason, MI and through Ingham County.  Those interested in helping out (sounds thus far like SAG wagon support mainly) contact Daniel Beuchert at (  More details to come.

September 1 – Run for Chum.  Location: Dansville, MI.  Those interested in helping out should contact John Tyree at


September 7 – Women Working Wonders 5K has been canceled.



September 21 – Bike / Hike for Hospice.  More information to come.   Those interested in helping out should contact John Tyree at for the Bike route, and Don Tillitson at for the Hike route.
