ARPSC Meeting Minutes Monday October 21, 2013

10-21-13 Meeting Minutes @ Ingham EOC

Monthly Reports – Make sure to report your activities above and beyond scheduled meetings and events (such as prep time for net control, etc).

New RACES cards – You will need one if you haven't attended the last two ARPSC meetings.

ATV Kits – Will be groomed on Saturday at 1pm at Fire Station #8. Jim Greiner is the lead for this. The 145.39 will be monitored if you are able to help.

Skywarn Classes – We will be shooting for sometime in March for the National Weather Service Skywarn Training. It will be held at the LCC West campus.

New ATV Cameras – Time will be needed to check into mounting and software options. There is a possibility that they may be used at Silver Bells this year. There was discussion about using the new cameras with a MESH network setup that would need to be tested out before Silver Bells or other events where they could be used.

Wish List – At the SET, a list of equipment that would be helpful for better operation at the Lansing EOC was created and will be prioritized (possible items include a digital interface and cable for digital operation, a dual monitor display for the logging computer, an additional HF rig to allow digital and voice operation simultaneously). The ATV kits also need some better tripods and additional equipment to keep the kits operational.

SET – A state SET was held on 10-5-13. Digital (olivia) was a main mode of communication, though voice and code were tried from the State EOC as well. Those who are interested in gaining some experience in operating in the EOC before an event where you are needed. It is also possible to work the State EOC. These events are great training for operating in a variety of modes at the EOCs.

There are open positions for the SEOC. Interested parties should look into them.

Upcoming Events:

Veterans Day Parade – 11-11-13 – This parade will be in Mason. (Bob Berger is contact for this event.)

Lansing Trailer Check – Weds November 6 @ 9am – at S Washington Armory (just north of Holmes). The City of Lansing Mass Casualty trailer will be tested from that location by erecting antennas and testing all radios. We are looking for more volunteers to help out and gain experience with this trailer. (Bob Berger is contact for this event.)

Silver Bells – 11-22-13 – ATV will be deployed during the celebration. Those who are able to volunteer for this event should contact Jim.

Net Control + Training – Volunteers are needed for net control and training over the next few months. This is a great opportunity to gain experience as a Net Control operator in a low stress and friendly environment.

If a November or December meeting are not warranted, notification will be sent out to inform everyone of a meeting cancellation.
