The 2009 Ingham County/Lansing Area Skywarn training was held on Saturday March 7 at the Lansing Community College West Campus in Delta Township. Over 150 were in attendance for the Skywarn program put on by the National Weather Services' new Warning Coordination Meteorlogist (WCM) Jamie Bielinski.

A great lunch was provided to all attendees free of charge thanks to LCC. After lunch, this years guest speaker was Meteorologist Rob Dale formerly of WLNS TV 6 in Lansing giving a talk on Mid-Michigan Tornadoes and severe weather in large outdoor venues.

2009 Skywarn Training Announced

The Ingham County Skywarn training will be March 7th, 2009 at 10am at the Lansing Community College West Campus. Pre-registration is now available on the Skywarn Training Page. We ask that you pre-register so we can give LCC an estimate of head count. You can view more details on the Skywarn Training here.

Lansing ARPSC Presented with Lansing's "Hometown Heros" award

The Lansing Amateur Radio Public Service Corps were presented with the City of Lansing "Hometown Heros" award at the City of Lansing board meeting on June 30, 2008. You can watch a video of the presentation below.

Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

The City of Lansing Emergency Management (Trent Atkins) will be sponsoring a Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Monday, August 11th at 6:30pm, at Hawk Island Park in Lansing. Please be prepared to bring a dish to pass and your own drinks. Feel free to bring your family!

2008 Common Ground Fest

Common Ground Fest 2008 is upon us. The festival in downtown Lansing runs from July 7-13, 2008. The Lansing ARPSC group is still in need of a few operators for Amateur Television ("ATV") operations. Please click here to find out how you can help!

EF-1 Tornado Touches down in Lansing-Area

The Lansing Area Skywarn group was activated on June 8, 2008 for a line of storms that impacted the Lansing area. The activation lasted almost 7 hours from approximately 1 pm until 8pm Eastern Time. The National Weather Service in Grand Rapids has determined that an EF-1 Tornado touched down. You can read more here.
